Formed in 1984, the Shoreham Society is non-political and free of all commercial interests. It is a registered charity (No. 299391), working for the conservation of Shoreham’s historic architecture and the enhancement of the town’s environment by encouraging an enlightened approach to planning.
An executive committee sets the society’s policies and strategy, which are based on consultation with the members. Committee meetings are held at the Marlipins Museum on the second Wednesday of each month.
A regular journal keeps our members informed of all developments and activities, including forthcoming events.
A town development sub-committee of professional members, including architects, surveyors and town planners, closely monitors local planning applications and submits suggestions or objections as appropriate.
The society is registered with the Civic Trust and has adopted the national body's recommended model constitution.
