Local author, Kim Matthews will be giving a talk based around his recently published book, Down Channel – The Smacks and Mariners of The Shoreham Oyster Fishery.

Kim’s book recounts the 19th century history of the oyster fishermen and merchants of Shoreham and Southwick. His talk will also examine modern themes like fishery regulation, stock sustainability and water pollution. It is sure to be an evening that will appeal to everyone interested in and concerned about the past, present and future of our vital maritime environment.
