This is a guest article by Lis Long, CEO of Apron Creative CIC. Lis will be the guest speaker at the Shoreham Society’s Annual General Meeting on Friday 15 May 2026.
Apron Creative CIC helps local communities thrive by creating vibrant natural spaces where people can come together to learn skills, share experiences and grow food.
Apron Community Garden
Since opening the garden our activities have evolved and our learning and skills have developed. We’ve built an incredible team of volunteers, partnered with many local organisations, and grown more than just crops.
We currently run a series of weekly community-focused, creative events at Apron Community Garden in Buckingham Park, Shoreham-by-Sea. To further support our local community, fresh produce from our garden is supplied to our local food bank and community café.
Apron Community Farm
Building on the success of our community garden, over the next five years we will re-develop a former equestrian site in south Lancing, returning the land to food production and creating a vital natural space for people and wildlife to co-exist in harmony. The regenerative Apron Community Farm, Wetland, and Heritage Craft Centre will give the diverse local community an accessible place to connect with each other, grow food, learn new skills, and enjoy arts, crafts, and culture in a natural setting.

Full details about the AGM can be viewed on our events page.
