Our October talk will be given by Dr Bob Howlett, Shoreham Society Committee member and a Visiting Professor in Sustainable Innovation at Cardiff Metropolitan University. He will explore how the town needs to adapt over the next 20 years to keep cool, dry and green.

This summer we experienced heatwave after heatwave. According to the Met Office, July was the driest month ever in Southern England and the temperature was 3.4°C above average. Was it just a one-off or actually a harbinger of things to come? If so, what should we do to help to keep us cool, to protect nature and to maintain vital services in future summers?
