Welcoming back one of the Shoreham Society’s favourite speakers, Dr Geoffrey Mead, to give a talk about the landscape of Sussex as seen through literature over the centuries.
Event Date:
Feb 20 at 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Sussex has been well-recorded from the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles to Defoe, Cobbett and into the 21st century; taking in diaries, travel writings, novels and government reports. This talk takes some of these accounts and views them through mainly modern images, to build up a picture of a complex county landscape of contrasting images and perceptions of landscape over time.
Friday 20 February, 7pm
St Peter’s Church Hall, West Street, Shoreham, BN43 5WG
£3 on the door.
