Shoreham Port is a Trust port playing a leading role in transforming the local and regional economy towards a sustainable future. Their heritage traces back to 1760; over the past 260 years, cargoes, vessel types and land uses have all changed considerably with the Port continually reinventing itself.

On Friday 18th February, Tom Willis, Chief Executive at Shoreham Port, will be leading a discussion on the progress his colleagues and partners are making towards achieving the Port’s Masterplan, which is underpinned by an award-winning set of organisational values.

In this Visions of Shoreham event, hosted by the Shoreham Society, Tom will outline initiatives that the Port has undertaken, like introducing solar arrays and wind turbines; and he will share future plans on ambitious projects, like the prospective Green Energy Hub. He will also be listening to issues on Shoreham residents’ minds and responding to questions.

A Green Hydrogen Hub … and new Boat Tours!

If you want to discover how hydrogen can offer a carbon-free alternative to diesel-powered HGVs and refuse vehicles in the local region, as well as the buses that we depend on for public transport, then this talk and discussion is a must! Green hydrogen is produced by combining water and renewable electricity, from solar, wind or wave power – for which Shoreham Port is ideally situated. Tom Willis is very keen to hear your thoughts on the pros and cons and the opportunities and challenges involved in harnessing these resources to make clean hydrogen energy.

As well as this key project, Tom will update us on other current developments in the Port, like Port Kitchen, a new café due to open this spring, the redevelopment of the former HQ of the Nautical Training Corps, their new Anchor Points trail, and the exciting plans for boat tours within the Port’s canal.

Shoreham has a rich heritage of innovation in engineering, aviation and maritime. Shoreham Port is actively maintaining that tradition and intends to continue to be a commercially thriving EcoPort at the heart of our community with an environmentally sustainable future. Listen, learn and ask your questions about Shoreham Port – Our Future with Tom Willis.
