There are some roles available to help out with Shoreham Society activities which you may like to volunteer for. If you are interested in any of them or would like to know more just send an email to info@shorehamsociety.org.uk stating which one(s) and we’ll get back to you. The Event Co-ordinator role entails becoming a member of the Shoreham Society’s committee.
Event Co-ordinator
- Produce the Event Calendar for the Shoreham Society’s programme of events.
- Liaise with the Publishing Group to align the Event Calendar with the Shoreham Society’s strategic set of topics and themes. To include the monthly Friday talks, day outs and other ad-hoc events.
- Attend meetings with the Publishing Group to agree the schedule of events and the appropriate communications of them.
- Identify and on-board speakers for the events including agreeing any payments requested and any other associated costs.
- Co-ordinate with Treasurer to agree budgets for speakers and other event costs.
- Manage the hire of venues for Events [St Peters church hall].
- Organise the events and volunteers working at the events. To include:
- Taking money – using Sum-up and cash
- Put out and put back seating
- Provide technical support to set up equipment
- Prepare presentations or liaise with other committee members and/or guest speakers to make event materials available and accessible.
- Host the event – including providing introductions to the event and speaker[s].
- Organise refreshments for the Xmas and AGM Friday events.
- Produce a 3-month rolling event schedule for publishing in the Quarterly.
- Liaise with the Communications manager to provide details of upcoming events for inclusion in monthly newsletters and website.
Event Support Team Member for the Monthly Friday Talks
- Role 1 – Responsible for collecting the fees on the door, either by Sum-up or by Cash.
- Role 2 – Put out and return seating in the venue to agreed layout and stacking plans.
- Role 3 – Provide technical support to set up the Audio Equipment in the hall for the guest speakers and host.
Publications Assistant
- Working with the Shoreham Society’s Publications production team to agree the content [Text and Pictures] for The Journal and Quarterly in accordance with the set of templates for each publication.
- Proficient in MS Word. Specifically using Word Styles, Page Layouts, Word Templates, managing images, and importing Fonts.
- Assist with the production of the 12 x A4 page Journal which is published every 6 months [November & May]
- Assist with the production of the 2 x A4 page Quarterly which is published every 3 months. [January, April, July, October]
- Monitor and replenish the dispensers of publications in our five town centre distribution points (e.g. Shoreham Centre).
- Needs to be able to have own laptop with MS Word and internet access.
